Best Engine Degreaser for Oil and Grease Removal
1. Will Mafra Perfect Degreaser damage the rubber hoses in my engine bay?
No this product is formulated to be safe on all common automotive materials including rubber and plastic and silicone. Unlike harsh industrial cleaners that can cause rubber to become brittle or crack over time this degreaser removes the oil that actually degrades those components. Always ensure the surface is cool to the touch and rinse the area thoroughly with water after the cleaning process is complete.
2. Can I use Mafra Perfect Degreaser on painted surfaces without fading?
Yes you can use this degreaser on painted engine bay walls and frames when diluted correctly for the task. It is designed to lift grease without stripping the clear coat or causing the paint to dull or fade away. We recommend a higher dilution such as 1:10 for painted areas and avoiding letting the product dry on the surface to maintain the best possible shine and protection.
3. How do I fix streaking if Mafra Perfect Degreaser dries on the surface?
If the degreaser dries and leaves streaks you should simply reapply a light mist of the product at a 1:15 dilution to reactivate the cleaners. Use a soft detailing brush to agitate the area and then rinse with plenty of clean water immediately. To avoid this in the future always work in small sections and keep the surface wet until you are ready to perform the final rinse of the engine bay.
4. Is Mafra Perfect Degreaser effective for removing old chain wax and tar?
Yes this degreaser is exceptionally powerful at dissolving thick chain wax and stubborn road tar from wheels and frames. The chemical surfactants penetrate the sticky bonds of the wax and turn them into a water soluble liquid that washes away easily. For these heavy applications a 1:2 ratio is recommended to ensure the wax is fully broken down during the first application for a perfect result.
